Background

On Friday, 3 March 2023, the Business Registration Service, Kenya (BRS) issued a notice to the General public stating that they were migrating to a new system and the process will be concluded on Monday, 6 March at 6am. This migration rendered business-related services on the eCitizen platform will be unavailable for that period.

By 1700hrs on Monday 6 March 2023, BRS issued a status update on the migration process confirming that they had onboarded and configured 5 registration services in respect of the following: Business Names, Companies Limited By Guarantee, Foreign Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships and Public Limited Companies (the Operational Services).

BRS then issued a notice on Wednesday 8 March 2023, stating that they are making concerted efforts to, among other things, ensure that the more critical services, relating to private companies’ registration and the Official Searches (CR12s), are restored.

Current Status

“One may make certain applications on eCitizen in respect of the above Operational Services. However, services relating to private companies and the official searches are yet to be fully restored”.

We are engaging with the BRS on when this process will be finalised, noting that inconveniences may be experienced.
